There are two methods to install linaro builds:

  1. using pre-built image
  2. creating your own image with linaro image tools

Using pre-built image

Insert SD card and note the assigned ‘dev/sdX’ or ‘dev/mmcblk0’

Download the image and flash the SD card

SDCARD=/dev/sdX # sdcard found from dmesg above
curl $URL | gunzip | sudo dd bs=64k of=$SDCARD

Note: Windows users may use the Image Writer for Windows.

Creating your own image

Get artifacts

Get linaro image tools

  • method 1: using binary package for Ubuntu (PPA)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linaro-maintainers/tools
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linaro-image-tools
  • method 2: using source code

Insert SD card and note the assigned ‘dev/sdX’ or ‘dev/mmcblk0’

Create media

sudo linaro-media-create --mmc /dev/sdX --dev panda --hwpack hwpack_linaro-lt-panda-x11-base_20121021-390_armhf_supported.tar.gz --binary linaro-precise-ubuntu-desktop-20121021-492.tar.gz
